Welcome back to school! We had a full day of learning in room 14. We started with some routine reminders and rule refreshers. Then worked in stations to talk about celebrating the New Year. We have new seats for January and we built some three-dimensional shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks. Watch for those to come home. Ask them what shapes they would see if the prisms were unfolded and laying flat. This is a visual skill that takes practice to master.
Friday is a school spirit day. Wear your class t-shirt. If you don't have one, feel free to wear purple-the second grade color.
We also will be taking our math portion of NWEA on Friday. This is the mid-year checking point. We want to see growth so we can celebrate the hard work and dedication that everyone has been working on.
Next week, we fall back into more of a routine. We will have spelling words again to go along with Unit 3, Week 1. We continue with states of matter in ISM and forces here in the classroom. We are looking at measurement, money review, geometry, and graphing. Hoping to give an assessment next week.
Enjoy the evening, and may you have an amazing year ahead!
