Today was a wonderful day in room 14. WE were so busy being scientists, team builders, and hard workers, that the day flew by.
This morning, after taking an extremely successful spelling test and grammar check up, the students were off to work at stations. Today, they read about animals that glow! Be sure to look over the Scholastic News and talk about those amazing creatures and how they have learned to adapt to their habitat and survive. Next, they explored all types of animals on BrainPopJr. and worked on their individual skills with eSpark. Then, working as a team, each group attempted to complete an animal/mammal 100 piece puzzle. Unfortunately, as a class they did not complete the puzzle. This is a skill that we will be revisiting again because there is great value in team building and puzzle solving. Lastly, they were scientists. Using animal puppets, the students showed what they have been learning about habitats, categorizing types of animals, and other vocabulary like "attributes". They enjoyed the morning stations for sure!
This afternoon, we worked really well on writing and Miss. Abbey helped with conferencing some grammar and spelling. We also had our first math test. Some children did not finish it in the hour of time given, so extra time will be allowed on Monday. I did show the test yesterday and went over every question and answer with them as our review. I never want to try to trick the kids. A test is letting me know what they have learned so far and what I need to help them learn still.
For those of you coming back to the school tonight for the Halloween Bingo, have a blast! I'm sorry I will miss it. I know you will have a lot of fun.
Enjoy the weekend!
