While out of the classroom for the next week, please know that Dreambox and Raz-Kids are still available for  your children.  If you are driving to go on vacation, downloading the app can benefit your child.  ConnectEd and DiscoveryEd also are two other resources for your children to enjoy.

On our return, Monday, April 8, it is wear your class shirt to school day.

We will utilize that week for any last chance opportunities for our speed math ice cream building challenge, end of marking period writing, reading, and math assessments.  The end of marking period is April 12.  That is the Friday we return, which is a half day of school for elementary students.

We are finishing the lower case cursive letters then jumping right in to upper case cursive.  I did show the students their names (first and last) in cursive this past week.  They are really enjoying learning this.

If you are looking for things to do in the area for next week, The Detroit Historical Museum is downtown across the street from the DIA.  It is free and really interesting.  The Detroit Zoo is always an enjoyable day.  Perhaps you feel crafty, you can always check out The Plaster Playhouse located behind SkyZone off 23 Mile Rd.

We had a wonderful day in Room 14.  The school had on Horton Hears A Who for our finally of March is Reading Month.  The children read some Dr. Suess books, we wrote a poem or two, created a landform book, enjoy art, and enjoyed three birthdays!

Happy Spring Break!

We had some unofficial twins in our class this week!  Take a look at the photos below.

It has been wonderful having two days with everyone back and seeming to healthy.   HOORAY!

Keep telling time, using money, and practicing double digit addition and subtraction.

The four bases for reading are due tomorrow.  If you are working on your fourth base, because they have to be turned in tomorrow, I will sign or star that final base if three twenty minute reads have been completed for this week.

Friday is Dr. Suess Day.  Children are invited to dress up and bring a book from home that this creative author wrote.

At the end of the day on Friday marks the start of our district wide spring break.  For those of you traveling, be safe.  Those of you staying around town, let's hope we get some sunny days to play outside.

School resumes on Monday, April 8.

Have a great evening!

Thank you for a wonderful week of learning!

We did spend some time reviewing math, science, language skills this week because of our number of illnesses running through the classroom.  Hopefully next week we are back on track.

Our drama's turned out fantastic!  I'm so proud of the children and their practice skills.  Our flashlight reading was great fun, plus they made wonderful spotlights for our plays!

Happy Birthday, Jenavive (on Sunday)!  Thank you for the recess toys and chalk.

Enjoy the weekend.

It has been a very productive day in Room 14.  We celebrated having all 27 students back in class!

The children are working on a drama.  The folktale is about fire.  They made stick puppets today to go with their character.  They will practice again tomorrow with their group, then perform it on Friday with our flashlight reading!

We will take the next few days to go over vocabulary regarding telling time and collecting data for graphing.

Be sure to check out our photo tab to read some shirts!
