Hello Families! We enjoyed celebrating Julia's birthday today. The sweet treat was enjoyed by everyone. Happy Birthday.
As long as the weather holds up, we will enjoy watching the 6th grade softball game this afternoon.
Tomorrow, the students will be cleaning their desks out. If you give permission to your child to donate items back to the class, I will be collecting them tomorrow. Otherwise, watch for items coming home.
We will then enjoy Friday as a game day celebration. They can bring a game from home and we will also be with all second grade classes. We have other activities planned that morning to enjoy each others company one last time.
Remember, NO LUNCH will be served tomorrow or Friday.
Enjoy the day!
We talked today about the key of "This is it!". This is a key about making the most of every moment. Focus your attention on the present moment. Keep a positive attitude.
I love this key, and the students made some real connections about keeping focussed our last few days here in second grade.
Take a look at our summer writing that they did today. We kept is short and sweet, while using some imagination and creativity. I'm going to miss your children!
Thank you to those who were able to join us at the park last night. It was wonderful for the children to get to meet their year long pen pal!
It is hard to believe that we are entering our final week of second grade! What a great year. Delightful, hard working, and kind children. We have been going over our second grade Michigan State Standards to be sure that we have been able to check off all the amazing things that they were responsible for learning. So far, so good! They gave some great examples of listening and speaking skills, as well as, writing.
TONIGHT IS OUR MEET AND GREET for our PEN PALS! I hope to see you at Grant Park around 7:00. If you are unable to attend, please send me an email so I can let your child's pen pal know that they cannot attend.
Wednesday afternoon is our annual teacher vs sixth grade softball game. Please be sure your child has a hat to wear in the afternoon since we will be sitting outside for about an hour or so. Loose clothing would be a good idea as well. It might get into the 80s that day.
Thursday is a half day. We will clean out our desks that day. If you are willing to donate any supplies for the start of next year, please let your child know that they can donate their binders, accordion folders, scissors, crayons, markers, etc. I am happy to put them in my shared material boxes. It is amazing how many students use the shared material, even if they have some of their own. Please do consider leaving them behind instead of throwing it away. Thank you!
On Friday, we will have our second grade celebration! The three classes will be together for about an hour or so of that time. They can bring a game from home to play, or sidewalk chalk, or a favorite book. This is like a picnic, but with allergies in all three classes, we will not be doing a special treat in order to keep all students safe.
If you have any questions about the week, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Also note, that all summer long your child can visit DreamBox, ConnectEd, DiscoveryEd, BrainPopJr., and Raz-Kids. I will not change their login information until the fall. These are all easy to find and use. Also, a great way to keep them improving on an individual basis. I hope you utilize these programs to avoid any summer slide in their academics.
In addition to on line support, Mrs. Simmons is a teacher in our building. She is offering to tutor students this summer. If you want information I can send her flier home. There are also some great Velocity camps being offered. Watch for those to come home tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to seeing you tonight for our "OFF SITE FAMILY FIELD TRIP!"
What a great way to start the month of June! FIELD DAY!!!!!
Thank you so much for all the amazing volunteers today. It was a huge success because of you.
Your child should be coming home with at least one special prize, but many are coming home with two or more! I collected all the amazing Excellence Dollars today for some fun shopping! Big stuffed animals (sorry, but it was time for my kids to part with just a few!), toys, puzzles, books, games, pencils, and more! It was fun!!!
If you find yourself cleaning out toy boxes this summer, please know that I am always happy to take donations for next years treasure box! You can pack your gently used items into a box or bag and label it "MRS. FROMM". You can drop it off at the school by the end of June or in August. Thank you so much!
Have a wonderful weekend and be sure to look at all the pictures from field day in the Photo Album tab.
I love teaching your children! I'm the luckiest teacher around!
