Hello Families! A great way to end our learning week was with so many smiles from the students in our class! This week we talked about using explanation marks with feeling words. Continue to help your child find examples of when we would use them in reading and writing. We will also continue this and questions, commands, and statements throughout the year.

A great day of learning! Our morning went well. The students are really falling into our routine. Miss. Hageman has been starting our day and getting into swing of things here as well. She will start working with small groups of students next week in the subject area of language arts. These next several weeks, she will continue to observe then plan with me and finally take the lessons to the students in all subjects. I will continuously monitor the progress and be an active part of learning everyday.
***TOMORROW IS OUR FIRST BAGEL DAY*** Bagels will be delivered sometime in the morning and the students can eat it in class, during lunch, in the afternoon, or take it home. They do not order additional bagels, so please do not send money with your child. Bagel days must have been pre-ordered. Thank you. Also, thank you to those who were able to attend the PTO meeting this week. I will try to include each meeting date as they approach. Our volunteers at Morgan are the BEST! The money raised goes right back to each student in our school. Assemblies, bus costs for field trips, and other school wide needs are covered by the group. Thank you for all you do for our Morgan Kids! Speaking of volunteers...I have been working on a schedule for those who sent me back the volunteer form. I will plan to start volunteers right after Halloween. I have the schedule set up for a once a month classroom participation. Those who are HOME HELPERS, you may see some things sooner coming home with instructions. Thanks so much! The school is looking for ONE ADDITIONAL HELPER. Each Friday (AM or PM) to be a copy mom. This is a time consuming volunteer position, but every student and teacher will love your forever! Training is available! Please let me know if you are interested and I will pass your name and number on to the group. Finally, take a look at our afternoon math stations and who lost teeth! Enjoy the night! We had such lovely children today for picture day! Hair all done, clothes nice and neat. If you did not send a form to order pictures, please know that your child did have their picture taken today for the yearbook and class composite. We will also have a picture re-take day that will be announced in a couple of weeks.
Our routine is falling into place. The children are working well together during whole group lessons, and small group/station time. Now we need to work on lunch room behavior. Mrs. Lasky needed to walk our class back today. They were disruptive and extremely messy she said. I know each child will show kindness and caring choices from here on out in the lunch room! But feel free to remind your child that they need to clean up after themselves and take some ownership and pride in the space around them. Thanks! Have a wonderful and cool evening! Be sure to start dressing your child in layers and label everything!!! In this photo the students are doing a shared reading. You can see them using strategies of pointing at words to keep on track and sitting closely to follow along. It was a fabulous day in room 23. We are missing our friend Max who has been out, GET WELL SOON!
Our morning ran smoothly with stations. Raz-Kids, eSpark, Read to Self, Word Study (spelling), and Word Work (exclamation and command sentences). I had a chance to do some one minute reading with students today as well. We have some amazing readers in our class. This will be fun to develop stronger comprehension skills and writing skills. Speaking of writing, we are working on a writing trait of Organization. Today we needed to put together some sentences from a story. The first time we read the cards, they weren't even sentences. Then, we made sentences recognizing capitals and punctuation. Finally, the sentences were put into the correct order of events from the story! It was fun and now they have a better idea for how important organizing our words are in our writing. The afternoon was interrupted just for a few moments to have a fire drill! Our class was fantastic, be proud of your child for staying quiet and respectful! Our math stations will run for two days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Today they needed to order numbers as a team, Dreambox, eSpark math, practice place value, and discovering different ways to represent numbers. Tonight is our first PTO meeting at 6:30. Tomorrow is PICTURE DAY! Monday can often be looked at as a dreaded day. Not here! We have gym to start us out then getting time to see our friends after the weekend is an added bonus! The students were marvelous today returning with smiles and almost everyone returned their signed "Week at a Glance", good job!
Congratulations, Sophia for losing a tooth over the weekend. We started math stations this afternoon. Check out the pictures. Be sure to look for this week's Word Study list coming home with your child today. On the back side, you will find our weekly concepts. Each Friday, we have a quiz, which we call a Grammar Check Up. That is checking to see how they do on the weekly concepts. If there are students that had a difficult time, I will do some reteaching before pushing forward. Thanks for the support! We loved having the Eisenhower band join us for a quick assembly! Have a wonderful evening! |
