We need to continue this feeling of pride all day, every day! I needed to stop our math lesson yesterday and today to talk about ownership of their own actions. I asked some of them what happens at home when they break rules or don't follow what their parents say. Many of them had consequences like taking away gaming time. Of course, in school, we use technology daily, so I really cannot take away the privilege of using technology. It would be like me taking away a pencil. LOL! I also really do not like having recess be a consequence for poor choices in actions if I can help it. They need the fresh air, time to be with other friends, and simply move their bodies. Just felt like you needed to know that my "mom" voice was heard today and I simply said that they are old enough to take responsibility for their learning and to show kindness each and every day.
December is here. We will change seats on Monday. With only three weeks, I'm hoping they can enjoy sitting by some new friends while working well with others.
I will be looking for some volunteers the last week of school before the break. A note will come home on Monday. I'm sure there will be an abundance of parents willing to help and I'm so thankful for you! I will need four parents for Thursday, December 20 in the morning. I'm offering those spots first to parents who were not able to participate at the Halloween celebration. Then, I will also need a couple more helpers for Friday, December 21 in the morning. When you get the note home regarding the Thursday helpers, I will need those to be returned to school. However, if you would like to help on the Friday morning before break, just send me an email. Thanks so much! I will put together a sign up genius for a few simple supplies we may need before the end of the year.
MONDAY IS SPIRIT DAY! Our student council will be hosting several school spirit days throughout the year. The first one will be MONDAY! Please wear the new class t-shirts to school on Monday. If you did not order a t-shirt, they are purple. Feel free to have your child wear purple.
Have a fabulous weekend!
