Wow, I can't believe how quickly this week went. Having professional development on Tuesday really threw me off!
Miss. Hageman has been leading the class this week. I have tried to remain in the hallway as much as I could to allow her the opportunity to manage the students without my influence. She will continue next week and the short two days before Thanksgiving. Therefore, I may not post too many photos while I'm out of the class. I will remind her to take them for our website, but I know this is an added choice that I love to do.
She has been doing a nice job with instruction. Your children are respectful and eager to learn. I have to admit, I'm anxious to get back to teaching, but know how valuable this experience is for her! Thank you for allowing us to share this with your children. After the Thanksgiving break, I will be doing the planning again and we will start our transition from her leading the class back to myself leading the class. Her final day with us will be December 8.
Please note, that on Friday from here on, I will try to post the spelling and reading skills page here, the same one that you will see on Monday. I want to start giving families the weekend to look over the new week in case you want to introduce anything with your child prior to us teaching it. This strategy is called, "Front Loading". Just something for us to try.
We had a lock down drill this morning. The students are learning the importance of safety in case anything ever arises. They were so caring, I'm very proud of them!
The school will be participating in several service projects in the next coming weeks. We have a canned food drive going on currently. A hat and mitten tree starts Monday. And, Toys For Tots donations will be collected as well. Thank you for showing such compassion to those in our community who are in need. This teaches your child compassion that will become a part of who they are as adults.
Our class will be visiting the book fair on Tuesday. If you want your child to purchase any books, please be aware that there is a 6% sales tax that needs to be added to their orders. The flier coming home today shows just the book price, not book with tax. Please label an envelope with your child's name on it so they can shop Tuesday morning.
Our next bagel day is next Friday.
Have a wonderful weekend!
