It felt great having a full week of learning! I am so pleased with the hard work that the children did.
You will see our addition and subtraction math test coming home today. I always tell the children that working hard pays off! Every child had a chance to practice the test and see the actual test before I asked them to do it alone. And even alone is said loosely because some children worked with Miss. Newton, Miss. Abbey, Mrs. Duhr, or myself. All of us wanted to see success and be able to assess how they are grasping addition and subtraction with larger numbers.
We also completed our Unit 4 reading theme test. This was done all online. I did shorten the test by one reading passage since this was the first time they were asked to do it alone. Up until this week, I was reading the passages and modeling the questions/answers with the class. The goal was to see them succeed with 70% or greater as an independent reader and building comprehension skills. I was so pleased with the results and this is another wonderful example of working hard paying off! Give some extra hugs this weekend!
Today was crazy sock day. The children did a writing lesson modeled after their write and tell lessons. They were asked to write a paragraph describing their socks. We have them hanging in the classroom so you can watch for those in a week or so. They were very proud of their writing. This is a reflection of the hard work they are putting in at home each week with learning the pattern of writing with details and descriptive words.
Please note that we do not have school on Tuesday, March 10 due to voting in the building.
Next Friday will be hat day.
Have a fantastic weekend!
