Our next unit of study is using three digits in addition and subtraction. Along with that, I will be having the students explore fractions and geometry. You can see from the photos below that the students enjoyed using geoboards, pattern blocks, and place value blocks today. If you are wanting to give your child a little head start on some upcoming topics, may I suggest MONEY and TIME! These are two real world lessons that the students can be practicing every single day at home. Give them a handful of coins and ask them to identify them, count the value of them, make different amounts, have them help pay at the store, etc. Give your child an analog clock to practice telling the time. We get very comfortable telling time using digital numbers. Help your child get ahead by showing them how to recognize the minutes hand, hour hand, minutes by fives, and exact time. Thanks for the spending some time with your child and giving them a little head start on what's to come.
The children have this weekend and next to create their Valentine Box. It can be from a cereal box, shoe box, large mailing envelope, lunch bag, grocery paper bag, etc. Please do not send them in until Valentine's Day. We do not have space to store them otherwise. Thanks!
Have a wonderful weekend! Keep warm!
