I just can't believe we are in November! Today officially marked the ending of the first marking period. I hope you all know that these first weeks of second grade are developing weeks. Rarely will you see a student who is exceeding the expectation in any academic or social skill. There are many who meet the exceptions of our daily routines which make me very proud. But in all reality, I am new, the curriculum is new, some classmates are new to each other, and so we can happily say that we are all developing together these skills.
Next week will be back to routine. We had last week off because of the theme testing. This week was out of routine because of Halloween. So I'm looking forward to getting the students back on track with working quietly to be respectful to everyone around us. I know they will be ready to learn and start showing some incredible growth these next few months. This is a joyful time of learning in second grade!
Take a look at our few photos from today. Mitchell lost a tooth! Our class worked together to complete a 100 piece puzzle. The first LUNCH BUNCH BOOK CLUB happened today during lunch. Remember, if you want to join us for book club, order the book suggested from Scholastic News. Read the book at home once your get the new book. I usually hold the lunch meeting about a week after the book has gone home to be read. Children must have read the book at home (or in class during read to self time) to participate. We do talk about the book, the characters, the plot, etc.
Enjoy the weekend.
