I always laugh when someone recognizes that this day could hold some superstition. For so many of our second grade friends, today is simply another day. I never spend time in class making a big deal out of this tale.
Today was a full day of great writing, spelling, reading, math, and music! You have terrific kids who are very patient and kind to one another. Give some extra hugs of praise to them for a wonderful week at school.
Halloween is an exciting day for our students. We will be celebrating the day with all three second grade classes doing crafts, stories, and games. We have high school students earning credit hours joining us that morning to lend a helping hand. ALL PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS are invited to join us in the gym for the school wide parade. The parade will begin in the back of the school at 10:45. We should arrive to the gym by 11:00 to parade around for all of you. It is a half day of school with dismissal at 11:30. We are not planning any additional snack other than our normal, healthy choices for the morning. With the afternoon filled with fun at home and then trick-or-treating in the night, I'm sure they will get their fill of sugary treats.
If you want to send in something for the entire class, please be aware that we do have a peanut allergy. All items will be placed in a goody bag (that we will make in class) and then sent home for parents to make the call on how many treats your child can enjoy at once. Of course, fun little Halloween prizes are always a joy to receive in a goody bag!
Mrs. Lasky sent home safety guidelines for the parade and costume appropriate choices for school. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
If you are looking for something fun today after school, race on over to Utica High! Starting at 4:00 is the Homecoming parade and football game starting at 7:00.
Enjoy the weekend!
