I realize not all families in our class celebrate Christmas. As you see things come home this week, please know that with each writing piece or project we do, I am very sensitive to talk about these things as being kind and a good friend to others. Not necessarily about the holiday, but more about celebrating friendship and caring for others. This time of year is very joyous and the children are so very excited too!
In fact, last week, we wrote a friendly letter to Santa. I did not encourage the students to create wish lists, but instead, letter writing is in our curriculum for second grade, we focussed on how to greet, build a body and include a closing. Many students asked questions and others did include a list. If YOU WANT TO SEE your child's letter, simply stop by the office. They have the letters that Santa read and he mailed them back to the school. I just didn't want to send those home with the students. However, today, an elf helped the big guy and replied to your child. You should see those in their folders today.
We enjoyed a leadership assembly this afternoon. Thank you to Kroger and The Detroit Lions! It was very exciting to see the mascot here and some leadership coaches to do the presentation. Be sure to ask your child about it.
Tomorrow is our Rudolph, reindeer games and crafts day. The morning will be set up with thirty minute rotations between first and second grades. Our children will be visiting all the other classrooms with a short-midmorning-snack break back in our classroom. We have several parents coming to help, please be sure to check in at the office before coming to the class. You can plan to arrive at 8:30, we start the rotations at 8:45. The volunteers will remain in our classroom only, not with their child. If something comes up and you are not able to help, just send me a message. Thank you otherwise!
Have a great night!
