Hello Families,
I hope you enjoyed the weekend and tried to stay dry!
An exciting opportunity has come our way. We have been invited to write letters and draw pictures for our U.S. Military who are serving over seas.
Here is a link to a Channel 4 news story about the Miracle Boxes that we are writing for. Just in case you were interested in the purpose of this writing piece....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ8P7YJJPBo
We will work on this writing throughout the week. It should be a wonderful authentic experience for our young writers.
Many of you found a coloring contest sheet that came home on Friday. You are welcome to complete it and return it to the school.
I'm sorry I missed the Fall Festival that was held on Friday. The pictures I saw looked like everyone had a great time. I was off enjoying my own children's homecoming festivities.
Please watch for any extra toys in your child's bags. I share a lot of things with the students and on many occasions toys, legos, putty, sticky tack, etc. makes their way home instead of in the classroom for everyone to enjoy. If you see something that does not belong to your child, simply send it back. I know children are fascinated with new toys and can sometimes "borrow" things without permission. If so, simply return them, this goes for books too.
If you see a stuffed animal from home or other toys making their way into your child's backpack, I would encourage you to have your child take them out. I'm sure they are favorite belongings and your child would be sad if they get lost. The school is not responsible for stuffed animals, small toys, etc. that your child brings from home. So I feel it is best just to keep them at home. I have plenty of things for the children to play with during an indoor recess time, and even outside as well. Thank you for your support in this matter.
A book order was sent home on Friday. I hope you saw the note about our class Lunch Bunch Book Club. All book orders are due by Thursday this week. Ordering online is the simplest way to handle this. Happy READING!
The first math packet homework went home on Wednesday. It is due back this week. Some of the children returned them and I'm sending it back home to be completed. I think they forgot to skip count! You should see a star once I have collected it.
There were several missing Week at a Glance notes today. Every child needs to take it home on Friday and then return it with a parent signature on Monday. This needs to be the child's responsibility. I'm just informing you so you can gently remind them, like I do.
Take a look at some quick photos below of what's been happening!
