Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that we are entering our final week of second grade! What a great year. Delightful, hard working, and kind children. We have been going over our second grade Michigan State Standards to be sure that we have been able to check off all the amazing things that they were responsible for learning. So far, so good! They gave some great examples of listening and speaking skills, as well as, writing.
TONIGHT IS OUR MEET AND GREET for our PEN PALS! I hope to see you at Grant Park around 7:00. If you are unable to attend, please send me an email so I can let your child's pen pal know that they cannot attend.
Wednesday afternoon is our annual teacher vs sixth grade softball game. Please be sure your child has a hat to wear in the afternoon since we will be sitting outside for about an hour or so. Loose clothing would be a good idea as well. It might get into the 80s that day.
Thursday is a half day. We will clean out our desks that day. If you are willing to donate any supplies for the start of next year, please let your child know that they can donate their binders, accordion folders, scissors, crayons, markers, etc. I am happy to put them in my shared material boxes. It is amazing how many students use the shared material, even if they have some of their own. Please do consider leaving them behind instead of throwing it away. Thank you!
On Friday, we will have our second grade celebration! The three classes will be together for about an hour or so of that time. They can bring a game from home to play, or sidewalk chalk, or a favorite book. This is like a picnic, but with allergies in all three classes, we will not be doing a special treat in order to keep all students safe.
If you have any questions about the week, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Also note, that all summer long your child can visit DreamBox, ConnectEd, DiscoveryEd, BrainPopJr., and Raz-Kids. I will not change their login information until the fall. These are all easy to find and use. Also, a great way to keep them improving on an individual basis. I hope you utilize these programs to avoid any summer slide in their academics.
In addition to on line support, Mrs. Simmons is a teacher in our building. She is offering to tutor students this summer. If you want information I can send her flier home. There are also some great Velocity camps being offered. Watch for those to come home tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to seeing you tonight for our "OFF SITE FAMILY FIELD TRIP!"
