I miss you very much! I know this is a very unusual situation we have going on. I wanted to touch base with you here before our UCS initiative begins next week. We will be using Schoology to keep in touch. I am currently being trained on this system. Once we have some beginning information, I will start to communicate there. I will try to add a link to this site from there in case the students want to continue the links from here.
While your at home, please note that being creative at this age is perfect lessons for them. Go ahead and pull out the bin of Legos and let them create a city, tower, farm, boats, cars, ships, etc. You can take some time and do some baking together, that will reinforce all the measurement that have learned. Your family can do scavenger hunts looking for items to measure with inches and centimeters. Practice telling time, counting money, and tying shoes. When you use play dough or clay, really encourage your child to squeeze the dough to build fine motor muscles. Send the children on a timed hunt around the house to find materials to build a fort, a rollercoaster for a toy car, or build bridges for stuffed animals; all of which they must use household items to create!
Please note, I am completely available to each of you via email. If you have any questions at all, or your child would like to send me a note, they can use my school email and I will reply!
Continue to stay healthy and safe. Give your children a big hug from me!
