We will continue this stamina building skills next week as well. I also will be introducing and practicing the other "Daily Five" lessons. Work on Writing, Listen to Reading, Read with Someone, Word Work, and of course the Read to Self. As we move forward into second grade, these become our stations and the goal is to remain focussed for 20 minutes at each station. We will start slow of course to build their stamina over these next few weeks.
Thank you for sending in healthy snacks. Please do note that most children are arriving and eating their snack within the first thirty minutes of our day. Many children eat breakfast early, so by 8:30-9:00, they are hungry again. I am perfectly fine if they have a second snack because they don't get to lunch until 11:50. For some children, that is a very long time. Others are perfectly content. I just know that if tummy's are grumbling, it is really hard to get work done. Sorry in advance for increasing your grocery bill!
We celebrated with Grace today because she lost her tooth. As children lose teeth during the school year, we will be filling in a bulletin board with all their toothless smiles. It's fun to see their glee.
One final note, please label EVERYTHING! Every coat, sweatshirt, lunchbox, bag, glove, etc. At this age, we tend to get several children with similar or the same items. They often may not realize that it belongs to them. If you label the items, I can help them to be more responsible. Please take a look at the two items left behind today. If you know who they belong to, please let me know or tell your child to bring them home on Monday. Thanks!
Have a fantastic weekend!
