Hello Families,
There is a change in the schedule for ice cream sales...instead of Thursday this week, it will be tomorrow. The eggs were a huge success today so those will happen again on Thursday. Ice cream will be tomorrow. Each are $1.00.
Speaking of ice cream...our class Speed Math competition is over. Every child has reason to celebrate their hard work while working under the pressure of a timer. Each child earn at least a bowl, spoon, and one scoop of ice cream. Some children earned all rewards of three scoops, three toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! I will scoop the ice cream very carefully for those who earned many scoops. I don't want anyone to go home feeling sick. Our celebration will be late Thursday afternoon in our classroom. I'll be sure to take several pictures to share with you.
Speaking of pictures, we spent yesterday collecting data from other students. Today we built a graph from that information. You can see it come home today, but I also took a few pictures that are below.
For the last marking period, students may be having to pay some money for a ticket. The tickets are the final push for following directions in second grade. Like adults, if we run a red light we are breaking the laws (rules). We get a ticket and have to pay a fine when we break the laws. The children have something similar. If they are breaking rules, they will be asked to fill out a ticket and pay the fine. I will continue to pass out lots of money for treasure box picks, stuffed animals, treats, and coupons. If a child runs out of money and cannot pay their fine, they will lose their recess until they accumulate the money to pay the fee.
The fourth marking period is a big opportunity for students to show growth in their learning. We still have lots of great reading, writing, and mathematics to accomplish. Please continue to support your child during these nice spring evenings.
Have great night!
