We tried stations today. I was very pleased with how they stayed on task for each expectation. They were able to work for 17 minutes with a one minute transition. Tomorrow, we will add a minute to our work time.
In math, each child will be bringing home their first weekly math packet. I gave oral directions for each page. We then did a few problems to help them remember what to do when they get home. If you have any questions, just send me an email.
We also are looking at pennies, nickels, and dimes. Looking at how those coins make tens. This is something you can practice at home. Give your child real coins to look at, feel, and count with. Talk about the name of each coin and what value they hold. Then practice mixing and matching, for example: give them a dime and ask them to use only pennies to make the same value. Or give them two nickels and ask them to show you two different ways to make the same value (one dime, and also ten pennies).
Have a great evening!
